NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) opened its first career centre within Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD) on 2 April 2024 at One Marina Boulevard (OMB).

According to NTUC’s e2i, the career centre will be a dynamic space for jobseekers to network and access essential career services and resources.

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng, who officiated the opening, shared that establishing a career centre within the CBD signals NTUC’s commitment to helping PMET workers and youths.

“Singapore’s workforce is now in transition. Compared to the past, we now have a majority of PMETs in our workforce. With NTUC having succeeded in our initial years of nation-building with our workers, we are today pivoting and innovating to stand alongside our PMETs,” he said.

NTUC’s e2i Chief Executive Officer Caryn Lim echoed Mr Ng’s sentiments, adding that NTUC’s e2i is dedicated to making career services accessible for all workers.

“We envision a future where each of our 26 touchpoints serves as a beacon for career advancement, and every worker has the opportunity of being empowered to pursue their career goals,” said Ms Lim, an assistant secretary-general with NTUC.

Interactive career resource

The career centre features interactive self-help displays for jobseekers to access NTUC’s network of services and e-resources.

This includes NTUC’s e2i’s Career Resource Kit for Professionals and Resume Builder, U PME’s NTUC Executive Mentorship Programme, and Young NTUC’s Career Starter Lab.

The enhanced support aims to create an engaging space where individuals can access tools, job opportunities and learning resources to improve their employability and stay updated with industry trends.

Collaborating with business leaders and knowledge partners

Meanwhile, NTUC’s e2i also signed two memoranda of understanding (MOU) at the centre's launch to provide greater opportunities for job seekers while bolstering their employability and professional networks.

One MOU was with business leaders, namely the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The MOU with business leaders aims to promote the sharing of industry insights and best practices at speaking engagement sessions while helping facilitate job and networking opportunities for Singaporean workers.

The second MOU was with knowledge partners Alvigor, Forest Wolf, Human Capital (Singapore) and NTUC LearningHub.

This MOU enables professional development opportunities and provides expert guidance and support for jobseekers.
